It's that time of year again, when our family Runs for the Wild! This year Otto has chosen to put our team focus behind the pangolin.
He has been interested in these "scaly anteaters" ever since he watched their Wild Kratts episode. Pangolin's super power is their suite of armor. These scales are so strong that, when rolled up into a ball, even big cats can't even bite through it. Wild Kratts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZBw5mxe4OE
These super cool creatures are found only on two continents: Asia and Africa. Over the years, demand for their meat has led them to becoming one of the most heavily trafficked mammals. They now range from vulnerable to critically endangered. Being so elusive it is hard to know exactly how many there are left.
We care about saving the pangolins, and I hope you do, too. The money we raise will help fund WCS’s critical work to save pangolins and other wildlife around the globe.
This year's Run for the Wild is at the Bronx Zoo on April 29th. As always the 5k run supports WCS in establishing and helping to manage parks and reserves, safeguarding animals from poaching with active monitoring and patrolling, and inspiring communities to protect their local wildlife.
WCS is a wonderful organization with the reach and the expertise to make a difference, but they need our help to make that protection a reality. That’s where you and I come in.
With your support, we hope to raise our target of $300. Even $10 would make a big difference for these awesome mammals.
P.S. Not only does our run support a great cause – it's also a really fun day at the zoo!
If you have an animal near and dear to your heart, join me on April 29. You can register here: http://e.wcs.org/site/TR?fr_id=1190&pg=entry
Thank you for your support. I can't wait to tell you about our run through the Bronx Zoo!
